Ice Hockey FAQs

  • Similar to learning how to crawl before you can walk, or walk before you can run, it is strongly encouraged that all participants have a fair amount of skating experience under their belt before putting on hockey equipment.
  • A child’s first day of Learn to Play can be a heavy sensory overload so doing all you can to limit any unease for both the child and the parent is highly suggested. Learn to Skate can help with:
    • Speed and Agility: The better their skating technique, the faster and more agile they will be. Hockey is a fast-paced game, and strong skating helps you keep up.
    • Safety: Proper skating technique reduces the risk of falling and injuries. Learning how to stop efficiently prevents crashes into the boards—or worse, other players!
    • Endurance: Efficient skating helps conserve energy. If you’re struggling to stay upright, you’ll burn out quickly before you even get into the game.

Confidence: Mastering the basics makes hockey way more enjoyable. When you’re comfortable moving around, you can focus on positioning, passing, and shooting instead of just staying on your feet.

  • If a LTP session is full, you can add your child to the waitlist
  • Participants on the waitlist will be the first to know when a new session opens up before it opens to the rest of the public.
  • Players below the age limit will need to wait until they reach the required age.
  • Players above the limit may join, but must provide their own gear and will receive a code for $100 off.
